Sockets of categories 5e (single shielded), 6 (single shielded or unshielded), 6A (single or double unshielded) are available. The sockets differ in data transmission speed. Category 5e RJ45 sockets are used for 125 MHz bandwidth and transmit data at 100 Mb/s, while Category 6 is used for Fast Ethernet, as well as Gigabit Ethernet at frequency of 250 MHz and transmits data at 1000 Mb/s. ... Category 6A sockets are an improved version of Category 6, their bandwidth is up to 10 Gb/s.

When choosing between a shielded and an unshielded computer socket, it is worth considering whether there is a need for increased data protection and protection against interference. If there is, then it is advisable to use shielded sockets, if there are no special requirements, unshielded models can also be used.
